INSPIRATIONAL POEMS

A moment of despair has flickered through me

As I look at my windowpane

The raindrops glisten and I strain to listen

To the sounds of the beating rain

Falling, falling it caresses the fragile autumn leaves

And with a last cling to life they are torn away

Down they fall russet, gold and brown

The colors swirl all around as the wind

Gently sweeps them to the ground

So fragile, so lifeless they now seem

And the rain still beats in a steady stream

Shirley Sarafinchan –September 17, 1980

It is something about RAIN I love..when I was small child I would go outside and jump in the rain puddles and open my mouth to catch a rain drop. Even now I don’t do the puddle jump but I do step in the puddles. I guess it water, I’ve always been drawn to it. It reminds me of life challenges.

Thanks Desiray for your comments on “Rain”! I love the rain too and loved to splash around in the puddles when I was younger. When I wrote “Rain” many years ago I had justed moved back to Edmonton from Winnipeg where I had lived near my family for five years. I remember that day so very well and it had been raining for over a week so I was really feeling down in the dumps. The leaves cascading down from the trees made me think about “life” and how fragile it can be and how quickly it can be taken from us. Have a great day!
