SPIRITUAL SATURDAY ~ Dreams are Dreams ~ March 26, 2011 by Charles Betts
INSPIRATIONAL POEMS
Do you have a dream you’ve held tight
Locked inside you, kept out of sight
Unshared because you’re so afraid
Plans have not been carefully made
If others see and know your dream
Will they laugh or make you seem
Less than who you know you are
So you stay beneath the stars
But in your heart you long to give
The dream you have a chance to live
Say good-bye to all the folks
Who’d say your dream is just a joke
A perfect dream sustains our life
When overcome by inner strife
So dream your dream, let it be
Exposed for all the world to see
People wrapped in so much pain
Will see your dream and hope again
Do the world a favour friend
See your dream through to the end
When your dream has been fulfilled
All your fears have long been stilled
You’ll be glad you took a chance
All the world will share your dance

An Old Man ~ February 5, 2011 by Charles Bett
INSPIRATIONAL POEM
An old man on the corner
His hands behind his back
Thinking about his future?
Reflecting on his past?
I was in a hurry
So I didn’t stop to ask
The old man on the corner
With his hands behind his back
Old man on the corner
I wondered about your life
Did you have any children?
Did you still have your wife?
Had it all been easy?
Or did you know some strife?
Old man on the corner
What happened in your life?
Old man on the corner
Your face toward the sun
What had you accomplished?
What great things had you done?
Were your dreams completed?
Were some things not yet done?
Standing on the corner
With your face toward the sun
Old man on the corner
I see you’re there alone
Waiting for the transit bus
No car to call your own?
Of the things you’d learned in life
What did you wish you’d never known?
Old man on the corner
Standing so alone
Old man on the corner
Hair now turned to gray
Do you recall better times
When you could run and play?
Pleasant conversations had?
What other folks would say?
Old man on the corner
Hair now turned to gray
Old man on the corner
Do I see myself in you?
Are there dreams not yet dreamed?
Are there things I’ve yet to do?
Places where I need to go
Whiles my skies are blue?
Old man on the corner
Yes I see myself in you

DREAMS ~ January 31, 2011 by Dolores Ayotte
INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES AND ANECDOTES
At times, we don’t always realize the importance of our dreams. To me, the ability to dream and to have hope go hand in hand.
To dream is to look ahead and aspire to be more than what we are at the present moment.
To dream is to have the desire to make a difference in this world we call home.
To dream is to be able to look forward and to try to achieve a goal that is new to us or that we thought was unattainable. To accomplish our dream is to realize that our lives are worth living. In doing so we gain self-worth, self-respect and in most instances the respect of others. This occurs especially when we have gone against the odds and risen above what appears to be the impossible. When we dream, we have hope. When we have hope, we have a reason to live. Our “raison d’être” is the essence of our being. Without it, we don’t have much. With it, we have an indomitable spirit that drives us to broaden our horizons and soar with the eagles.
“There is only one thing for us to do, and that is to do our level best right where we are every day of our lives; to use our best judgement, and then to trust the rest to that Power which holds the forces of the universe in His hand…” (Orison Swett Marden)
“To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life.” (Robert Louis Stevenson)
“In the moment that you carry this conviction…in that moment your dream will become a reality.” (Robert Collier)
The Hope Of An Un-Answered Prayer –December 12, 2010 by Hope Rising
Inspirational Poems
It was the un-answered prayer
that brought me to my knees,
that taught me to question,
and tore me to tears.
Unspeakable sorrow,
beyond comprehension;
un-explainable grief,
without words or expression.
I wandered, dreamless,
unaware of the time.
except to know it was passing
beneath the weight of my step.
It was the un-answered prayer
that erased my future,
that blurred my horizon
that forced my today.
Today, where my breath is drawn,
and my footprints are fresh,
where what I have to cling to
is well within reach.
It was in the here and now,
where my healing began
and my dream, lost and broken,
became the fuel of my fight.
I live my days, rekindled,
a slight spark, not a fire;
but a start, a beginning
a step forward, a new hope.
- here’s to hope

STORYTELLING — November 25, 2010 by Dolores Ayotte
INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES AND ANECDOTES
It brings me great pleasure to liken my blog contents to the old-fashioned concept of a Reader’s Digest. It covers a variety of topics by a number of different writers. It’s the reason up to this point that I refer to it, if only in my own mind, as an e-Digest. Today, I am now elaborating on my philosophy with all of you and the motivation behind sharing my space, my humor, and my innermost self.
Our telling one another’s stories can be a means of extending not only their reach in touching other people’s lives, but our own hand as we reach out to help others attain their full potential as followers of Christ. As a result, we are in the process of learning to strive together to attain our true aspirations and capabilities as human beings. In doing so, we help each other achieve this desired common goal to become the “Body” of Christ on earth.
In helping others, we ourselves, are being helped. The mutuality of the relationship forms the foundation of all that we are as Christians. When we grasp each other’s hand in this way, we form a circle of God’s love and create the chain of His Divine Essence as we link up with like-minded individuals.
It is the combination of reaching out and reaching back that binds us together in the most profound way! It’s the fabric that knits us together as humankind.
“To desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve.” (James Aleen)
INSPIRATIONAL POEM
“No vision and you perish; No ideal and you’re lost;
Your heart must ever cherish some faith at any cost.
Some hope, some dream to cling to, some rainbow in the sky,
Some melody to sing to, some service that is high.” (Harriet Du Autermont)
